NEW YORK (Reuters), Former President Donald Trump will be fined $10,000 each day until he complies the subpoena of the state attorney General probing his business practices. A New York judge stated that.

Arthur Engoron (state judge) held Trump civilly contemptuous for his “repeated failings” to turn over material to Attorney General Letitia Jam. James’ office has for the past three years been looking into whether Trump’s family business improperly valued assets in order to receive financial benefits.

Engoron wrote on Tuesday that James’s Office had “satisfied their burden of showing that Mr. Trump willfully disregard a lawful Court Order” and ordered that Trump pay $10,000 each day starting Tuesday to comply.

Trump, a Republican, has denied wrongdoing and has called the probe politically-motivated. James is a Democrat.

Alina Habba, Trump’s lawyer, stated Monday that Trump will appeal Engoron’s decision.
