Following weeks of delays caused in part by partisan obstructionism the United States Senate confirmed Lael brainard’s nomination as Vice Chair of the Federal Reserve.

In a 52–43 vote on the Senate floor on Tuesday, U.S. lawmakers ConfirmedBrainard was vice-chair of the Federal Reserve from 2004 to 2005. This could be beyond Brainard’s term as governor which ends in January 2026. Brainard was among four nominations that were awaiting approval by Republican senators in the Senate Banking Committee. Banned the February committee, which would have sent the prospective Fed vice chair’s nomination to the full Senate.
