Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

AMP Ltd. ASX: was among the top performers during the session. It rose 13.17 points or 0.14 point to trade at 1.16 by the closing. Meanwhile, Fortescue Metals Group Ltd (ASX 🙂 gained 8.11%, or 1.63 points, to finish at 21.73. OZ Minerals Ltd. (ASX 🙂 was up 6.92% (or 1.62 points) to 25,03.03 in late trading.

The Sydney Stock Exchange saw rising stocks surpass declining ones by 766 to 7,08, and 351 respectively.

Polynovo Ltd’s shares (ASX) dropped to their 3-year lows. They lost 4.62%, 0.05 to 0.93. EML Payments Ltd. (ASX) shares fell 52 weeks to their lowest point, losing 2.87% and 0.05 to 1.52.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 9.63% to 15.51.

The June delivery of Gold Futures was lower by 0.27%, or 5.12, to $1.883.58 per troy ounce. In commodities trading, crude oil fell 0.33 percent or 0.33 to reach $101.69 per barrel. The July Brent oil contract dropped 0.45 or 0.43 to trade at $104.50 per barrel.

The AUD/USD exchange rate was stable at 0.72, with a 0.47% increase in the value of 0.72. However, the AUD/JPY traded up 2.10% to 93.43.
