REUTERS/Christian Hartmann/File PhotoMILAN, (Reuters) – Andrea Guerra has resigned from LVMH as chief executive at Luxottica’s Italian eyewear company. Guerra had led Luxottica’s hotel operations for two years. The French luxury goods chain announced Thursday that Guerra was leaving LVMH.
Guerra was also responsible for overseeing the Fendi, Loro Piana Italian fashion brands, and LVMH’s Thelios Eyewear company. He will now be a senior adviser to France’s group.
In a note, Chairman Bernard Arnault (LVMH) stated that he was happy to continue working with the group and would be an advisor.
Guerra was Ray-Ban owner Luxottica from 2000 to 2014. In 2014, Guerra split with Leonardo Del Vecchio, the founder and major shareholder. Eataly became the high-end food retailer Eataly.
It has been a difficult couple of years. Guerra wrote in the note, “I now want to pursue new entrepreneurial initiatives.”
Sources close to the Italian executive stated that his new project will promote ‘Made in Italy’ products and cultural history, however he would continue his advisory role with Arnault/LVMH up to the end.
