REUTERS/Stephanie KeWASHINGTON (Reuters] – A U.S. Congress official inquiry into Donald Trump’s January 6, 2021 assault on Capitol planned to hold at minimum eight public hearings, including some in prime time television evening hours.
Democratic Representative Bennie Thompson who heads the House of Representatives Select Committee, Jan. 6, stated to reporters at Capitol that hearings will take place in normal working hours as well as some evenings.
He stated earlier in the week that the panel which planned public hearings for May now plans hearings for June before issuing an autumn report, which will be prior to the November midterm elections.
They are trying to determine the exact actions of Trump during his time in office. Thousands of Trump supporters attacked police officers and destroyed Capitol. Members of Congress as well as Vice President Mike Pence ran for their lives.
Congress was meeting to officially certify that Democrat Joe Biden defeated Republican Trump in November 2020’s presidential election.
In the investigation of the committee, more than 900 people were interviewed, which included many Trump White House aides.
