HSBC’s top shareholder calls for banking giant’s break-up

(Reuters] – HSBC Holdings NYSE (NYSE:)’s largest shareholder is Ping An of China, according to Friday’s Financial Times.

According to the report, Ping An had laid out its plans for a HSBC board breakup, citing sources familiar with the matter.

Two sources report that the insurer holds 9.2% stake in HSBC. According to data by Refinitiv, the insurer owned 8.23% in the banking company as of Feb. 11.
