(Reuters) – A Russian law firm filed a lawsuit against U.S. technology giant Apple (NASDAQ) Friday. The suit seeks 90 million roubles (1.28 million dollars) as damages to consumers who were affected when Apple stopped accepting payments from Russia.

Apple didn’t immediately reply to our request for comment.

Law firm Chernyshov, Lukoyanov & Partners said Apple had violated Russian consumers’ rights after the company restricted the use of its built-in Apple Pay service on March 1 in response to Moscow sending troops into Ukraine.

It claimed that the suit was brought to Moscow’s court. The plaintiff sought 90 million Russian rubles for damages.

Apple Pay should be resumed for Russian customers, it is requested by the Russian government.

As the law firm continues to invite more people to the case, the total number could increase.

Konstantin Lukoyanov, Senior Partner at Apple, stated that the main U.S. corporation had decided to stop selling Apple products and limit services in Russia.

He stated in a statement that “Therefore our lawsuit’s claims were directed firstly to the parent company, and then at its subsidiary units.”

According to the law firm, Apple’s decision not to allow Apple Pay in Russia reduced functionality and thereby decreased their value. These actions were deemed unfair and discriminatory by Russian law.

A similar suit is currently being pursued by the same law office against Netflix (NASDAQ:) which suspended its services in Russia in March.
