PARIS (Reuters), a French engine maker Safran (EPA:) Friday’s announcement by EPA that it reached a new deal with Airbus regarding quantities in 2024 was a signal that Airbus may be able to continue partially its plans for increasing narrowbody A320 family jet production.

Olivier Andries, Chief Executive declined to provide a number for how many engines the company had built with CFM International partners. General Electric (NYSE:), and told reporters that it was the same as levels prior to the crisis.

He added that 2025 is still too far away. Airbus could not be reached immediately for comment about the agreement. This follows a yearlong dispute with engine manufacturers who were concerned that planemakers would increase jet production too rapidly.
