GENEVA, (Reuters) – Ukraine and dozens of countries have written to the World Health Organization regional chief requesting an urgent meeting about the effects of Russia’s invasion of health. A letter that Reuters obtained on Friday revealed.

A total of 38 others from the European Region, which includes France, Germany and Britain, signed the letter that was sent by Ukraine’s diplomat mission to Geneva.

The letter is addressed to Hans Kluge, Europe’s regional director. It asks Kluge to convene an urgent meeting no later than May 9th. It also indicates that Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director General of World Health Assembly, should address the issue at the May meeting.

A request for comment was not received by the WHO immediately. Reuters also requests comment from Russia. Russia is one 53 member countries of the WHO’s European Region.
