On Sunday, the U.S. Congress delegation headed by Nancy Pelosi (House Speaker) praised Ukrainians’ courage in comments during a trip to Poland. It was the day after President Volodymrzelenskyy surprised them with a surprise stop to Kyiv.

American lawmakers assessed Ukraine’s requirements for the next phase, and Pelosi promised that Washington would support the country until Russia is defeated.

Pelosi (a California Democrat, second in line for the presidency after vice president) was the senior American lawmaker that visited Ukraine following the start of the Russian war more than two months back. She visited Ukraine just days before Moscow attacked the capital, killing the U.N. secretary general.

Pelosi, along with a dozen U.S. legislators met late Saturday night to discuss the current war efforts. Reporters in Poland heard from the members of the delegation Sunday, when they unanimously applauded Ukraine’s defenses thus far.

Pelosi stated that “we were proud to convey the message of unity to him from the Congress of the United States. A message of appreciation and respect from the American people to his leadership, as well as our admiration for the courage of the people of Ukraine.”

Two days earlier, U.S. President Joe Biden requested Congress to approve $33 billion for Ukraine. This is more than double the amount of the $13.6 billion initial aid package that Congress passed early last month. It now appears almost empty. The measure came as the war was entering its third month. It was intended to show Vladimir Putin that U.S. weapons and other assistance were not going away.

Rep. Gregory Meeks (a Democrat from New York) stated, “This time we either stand up for democracy”

Rep. Adam Schiff from California, a Democrat said that “This fight against tyranny is a struggle to freedom.” “And Ukraine is in the frontlines of this struggle.

Rep. Jason Crow from Colorado is a Democrat and a member on the House intelligence & armed services panel. A veteran, Crow said he went to Ukraine with three focus areas, “Weapons weapons and weapons.”

“We must ensure the Ukrainians win. “What we’ve seen over the past two months has been their fierceness, their pride, and their ability fight for victory if given the right support.”

He said, “The United States of America wants to win and will support Ukraine until that victory is achieved.”

Meeks is chairman of House Foreign Affairs Committee. Schiff chairs House Intelligence Committee. Jim McGovern from Massachusetts chairs House Rules Committee. Crow, Barbara Lee and Bill Keating are all members of the full congressional delegation.

Zelenskyy stated to the delegation that “you all are welcome,” according to the video released by his bureau.

Zelenskyy told Pelosi by Pelosi: “We believe we are visiting your home to thank you for fighting for freedom.”

“We’re on the frontier of liberty and you fight is a battle for everybody. Pelosi said that our commitment was to continue supporting you till the end.

Further on its tour in southeast Poland, the group visited Warsaw later to see President Andrzej duda and other top officials. More than 3,000,000 refugees have been received by Poland from Ukraine, since Russia’s war began on February 24.

Pelosi stated, “We are looking forward to thanking all our Polish friends for their commitment and humanitarian efforts.”

Pelosi spoke at a press conference in Poland and said she was proud of the Ukrainian people’s bravery. Pelosi said that Zelenskyy was brought to her by the American delegation as a “message of appreciation” for his leadership.

McGovern stated that Russia’s war in Ukraine had far-reaching consequences, and that it was causing a global food crisis which would have devastating effects on poor people.

McGovern stated that Putin’s war on Ukraine is not just a war against its people. It’s also against the most vulnerable people in the world.

He also stated that Ukraine is the “breadbasket for the world.”

McGovern stated, “I don’t believe that Putin cares about if the world starves him.”
