Activision Blizzard gains as Buffett says Berkshire now owns 9.5% stake, betting on Microsoft DealActivision Blizzard’s shares gained 3.3% on Monday pre-open trading after Warren Buffett declared that Berkshire Hathaway, his Berkshire Hathaway company (NYSE:), now has 9.5% of the game developer. The deal with Microsoft is in place.
On Friday, there was an arbitrage spread of 25.6% on the pending deal. It is based on fears that the antitrust regulators will not allow it to close. Microsoft paid $95 per share for cash shares that closed Friday at 75.60
Buffett stated that the purchase of his new acquisition was not made by his portfolio manager.
Buffett explained, “It was my purchases, and not the manger who bought it some month ago.” If the deal is successful, we will make some cash. Who knows what might happen if it fails?
Berkshire initially purchased a $1B stake in Activision Blizzard prior to the January 18th merger announcement. The stake has been repurchased for $6 billion.
