TOKYO (Reuters – Japan’s consumer sentiment index rose Monday for the first month in six months thanks to COVID-19 curbs ending in March.

The Cabinet Office Survey showed that the sentiment index for general household, which considers views on incomes and job prospects, stood at 32.9 in April. It was slightly lower than 32.8 in March.

The government did not change its sentiment index assessment, stating that there were weak movements.
