(Reuters: Netflix Inc. (NASDAQ) stated on Sunday that Netflix Inc. had decided to end work on Meghan Markle’s animation family series Pearl as Netflix’s streaming platform hews its animated content.

Netflix announced that it had decided to cease development of several projects including Meghan’s series in its strategic plan for creating animated series. The statement was made by the company without giving further details.

Archewell Productions was the company founded by Meghan and Prince Harry. Previously known as the Duke & Duchess and Duchess and Princess of Sussex, Meghan had previously announced that Meghan would become an executive producer for “Pearl.” It was originally planned that the series would focus on the adventures and inspirations of a twelve-year old girl inspired by many influential women in history.

Archewell Productions didn’t immediately reply to our request for comment.

Netflix has also decided not move forward with the animated children’s series Dino Daycare and Boons and Curses.

Netflix had reported that it lost 200,000 subscribers during the first quarter. It was far below its predicted 2.5 million new subscribers.

Netflix did confirm that they would still be working with Archewell Productions for a variety of projects including “Heart of Invictus”, a previously announced documentary series. The series will be about athletes participating in Invictus Games in The Hague for wounded veterans in 2022.

Netflix didn’t respond to questions about whether or not it would reduce the number of animated series.
