Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close of NYSE the index was up 0.63%, with the gain being 0.26% for the Index.

Intel Corporation (NASDAQ) was the best performer of the session, rising 3.14% to 44.96 by the closing. Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ) gained 2.50%, or 6.95 point to trade at 284.47. Home Depot Inc (NYSE 🙂 traded up 2.19%, or 6.57 point to 306.97 in late trading.

They were also the session’s worst performers Coca-Cola Co (NYSE:) fell by 1.81%, or 1.17 points, to close at 63.44 American Express Company (NYSE.:) lost 1.77% (or 3.09 points) to finish at 171.62 while UnitedHealth Group Incorporated(NYSE.:) dropped 1.46% (7.40 points) towards 501.15.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were EPAM Systems Inc (NYSE:) which rose 8.87% to 288.50, Align Technology Inc (NASDAQ) was up by 6.54% and settled at 308.88 CarMax Inc (NYSE:), which closed at 91.14 after gaining 6.25%

They were among the most disappointing. Global Payments Inc (NYSE) was 9.21% lower at 124.36 late trade. Iron Mountain Incorporated was also down at 5.64%, to settle at 50.70. Moodys Corporation was at 4.85% and 301.13 by the close.

Top performers of the NASDAQ Composite are Better Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ) rose 120.39% from 2.01 to 2.01. SoundHound AI Inc (NASDAQ 🙂 rose 68.46% to settle in 10.95, while Redbox Entertainment Inc ($NASDAQ 🙂 gained 42.64% to end at 8.53.

First Wave BioPharma Inc, NASDAQ:), which fell 35.42% to 0.40 late trade, Stealth BioTherapeutics Corp NASDAQ:), which dropped 31.83% to settle to 0.28 at 0.28, and Galmed Pharmaceuticals Ltd (NASDAQ 🙂 that was down 26.51% at 1.22 close.

On the New York Stock Exchange, falling stocks outnumbered those advancing by 1783-1390, and 143 ended unchanged.

Moodys Corporation’s shares dropped to 52-week lows. This was 4.85% (or 15.35 to 301.13). First Wave BioPharma Inc. (NASDAQ) shares dropped to their lowest levels ever, falling by 35.42% (0.22 to 0.40). SoundHound AI Inc.(NASDAQ:) shares rose to record lows. They were up 68.46%, or 4.45 to 11.95. Stealth BioTherapeutics Corp. (NASDAQ:), shares fell to new lows, losing 31.83% (0.13 to 0.28). Galmed Pharmaceuticals Ltd. (NASDAQ:), shares fell 26.51%, or 0.44 to 1.22 to their lowest level.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 3.17% to 32.34.

The June delivery of Gold Futures was lower by 2.60%, or 49.75, to $1.861.95 per troy ounce. Other commodities traded included Crude oil, which rose 0.57%, or 0.60, to reach $105.29/barrel, and July Brent oil, which rose 0.59%, or 0.63, to trade at $107.77/barrel.

EUR/USD was stable at 1.05 by 0.35%, while USD/JPY rose 0.2% to 130.15.

At 103.65, the US Dollar Index Futures rose 0.67%.
