AppleCNBC has reviewed a file from the NLRB that states store employees in Atlanta could vote for the formation of an Apple retail location union starting in June 2.

If organizers succeed, this store will be the first Apple retail location in America that is unionized.

Atlanta Cumberland Mall Apple shop location for a union drive in April. To be certified, the Communications Workers of America must vote for more than half of the 100 employees in the store.

CNBC previously heard from organizers that more than 70% signed union cards.

Elections will be held in person. They will last from Thursday, June 2, through Saturday, July 4. Ballots can not be mailed by workers. This is an important step towards unionizing Georgia.

A stipulated agreement between Apple and the NLRB means there will not be a hearing prior to the election being scheduled. This speeds up the process, a representative of the CWA said.

Apple store employees are demanding improved working conditions and better compensation in light of rising inflation and the Covid-19 pandemic.

Cumberland store organizers say their demands includeEmployees will be able to access more career options and a higher level of diversity in management, including cost-of-living adjustments and “real life wages”.

As the initial step to being represented by Workers United, a separate New York City store is collecting signatures. The union drive is also being held at Towson Mall, Maryland. to the Washington Post. If they win, they’ll be represented at the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.

Apple released a statement saying that they are happy to offer strong compensation and benefits for both full-time and part-time employees. These include health care and tuition reimbursement as well as new parental and paid family leave. Apple also stated that annual stock grants were available and other benefits.
