(Reuters] – On Tuesday, employees of an Apple Inc (NASDAQ) store in Maryland launched a campaign to create a union.

Organizers at the Towson Mall store near Baltimore said they had signatures from more than 65% of employees who are likely to be eligible, according to the report https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2022/05/03/apple-retail-towson-union-labor-machinists.

According to the Washington Post, the union plans to submit paperwork to the National Labor Relations Board within the next few days.

Apple has not yet responded to Reuters’ request for comment.

In April, workers at the Apple Store in Atlanta filed a petition for a union election. They wanted to be the first U.S.-based store to join unionization amid labor turmoil at major companies.

Amazon.com Inc. workers (NASDAQ) voted against unionizing New York City’s second warehouse, according to a Monday ballot count. It was a blow for labor organizers who, just weeks before, had won their first U.S. win at Amazon.com Inc.
