LONDON, (Reuters) – Britain is donating 13 armoured vehicles for the evacuation of civilians trapped in eastern Ukraine’s east. This was announced by the government on Tuesday.

In a statement, Foreign Secretary Liz Truss stated that “this latest donation armoured vehicle will help protect innocent Ukrainians fleeing Russian shelling” and would support Ukrainian officials doing vital work.

Britain stated that the steel-plated vehicles can withstand high velocity bullets and anti-personnelmines.

A statement stated that the vehicles had been donated by an overseas fleet to meet a request from Ukraine’s government. The vehicle would arrive within days.
