Experts warn of an increase in phishing schemes involving airdrops with ape-themed themes

Experts in cybersecurity have revealed the increasing popularity of airdrop-phishing by scammers using nonfungible token (NFT), and crypto currency.

An important marketing tool for crypto projects is the airdrop. This involves sending investors free NFTs or cryptocurrency tokens. A new report however, shows that airdrops are becoming increasingly popular. Published by Malwarebytes Labs highlighted an alarming rise in airdrop phishing attempts as scammers try to cash in on the hype around Yuga Labs’ BAYC Ape-related NFT collection.
