Despite a 61% increase in sales to EDF (French state-owned utility EDF:), the first quarter saw sales jump to 35.58 Billion Euros ($37.40 Billon) due to higher prices for power and gasoline, but EDF was still cautious regarding its core profit outlook.
The company stated that the sales increase will not have any impact on core earnings. However, a drop in its nuclear output due to reactor failures will cause it to need power to be bought on wholesale markets at high prices.
EDF claimed that it was not exposed to Russian companies affected in international sanctions, but admitted it suffered indirect effects via high commodity market volatility and higher prices.
