EU to ban three Russian state-owned broadcasters

STRASBURG (Reuters) – The European Union is going to ban three Russian-owned radio stations as part of a six-sanction package against Moscow’s involvement in the war in Ukraine. This was announced Wednesday by its chief executive.

Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, told EU legislators in Strasbourg that they will no longer be permitted to transmit their content in any form in the European Union.

She called them “mouthpieces, that amplify (Russian President Vladimir Putin) Putin’s lies & propaganda aggressively”.

She said, “We shouldn’t give them any stage to spread these lies.”
