(Reuters) – Netflix Inc (NASDAQ) announced on Sunday that it would stop working on Meghan Markle’s Family Series “Pearl”, as the streaming platform reviews animated content.

The company stated that Markle’s project was one of its strategic production decisions. It did not provide further information.

Archewell Productions is the company founded by Markle and Prince Harry. She announced last year that she will be “Pearl’s executive producer.” This series would focus on the adventures of an 11-year old girl inspired by historical women.

Officially, they are known as Duke and Duchess Sussex. Archewell didn’t immediately reply to our request for comment.

Netflix decided to stop production of the animated series for children, “Dino Daycare”, and “Boons and Curses”.

Netflix has announced that it lost 200,000 subscribers during the first quarter. It is well below its predicted 2.5 million.

Netflix extended last year a deal with Comcast (NASDAQ 🙂 subsidiary Universal Pictures for animation movies. The move was intended to keep Netflix in touch with children.

Netflix announced on Sunday that it will continue working with Archewell on projects, including previously unannounced documentary series “Heart of Invictus”. The series will feature athletes participating in Invictus games for wounded veterans at The Hague, 2022.

Netflix didn’t respond to questions about whether or not it will produce more animated series.
