NFT Marketplace OpenSea has confirmed today that their Discord server was hacked. In a Twitter, the platform explained that the issue was being investigated and claimed they had already solved the problem. The team also asked that users refrain from clicking on links within the Discord.

Shortly after Twitter users had discussed the matter, several people noticed that it was happening (NYSE:). “OpenSea Discord is hacked,” stated the founder of threat mitigation system Sentinel. Surprisingly, the phishing site used was YouTube. Another cybersecurity expert said: Opensea discord can be exploited youtubenft[.]Art is the most dangerous phishing website. It is easy to fall for this trap!

The hack seems to have been promoting a dubious NFT mint, directing users to mint fake “YouTube Genesis Mint Passes.” And since the link had “YouTube” in its URL, users were quick to click on it. The link didn’t lead to YouTube. PeckShield detected the link to be a fake website.

The hackers managed to remain on the server undetected until OpenSea employees could regain control. A number of follow-ups were sent by the hacker to the original announcement, stating that 70% had already been produced.

As reported by Etherscan. Six wallets were affected. The most important NFT was stolen from ConiunPass, which has a market price of approximately 0.84ETH (or $2,300).

OpenSea is just one of a number of Discord servers that have been compromised by hackers. Infiltrators hacked into several NFT collections including KaijuKings and Doodles in April.
