Rich Strike charged up the rail, attempting to pass the leaders and win the Kentucky Derby.
Rich Strike was steered by Jockey Sonny Leon from far back in the 20 horse field. He was run by 4-1/favorite Epicenter and Zandon at Churchill Downs on Saturday.
Rich Strike didn’t make it to the Derby field before Friday, when Ethereal Road was scratched. Eric Reed made way for Rich Strike. Leon and Reed competed in their first Derby.
