FRANKFURT, (Reuters) – Fraport, a German airport operator said Monday that it will reconsider its stake at St. Petersburg Pulkovo if it is targeted by Western sanctions or if it has been used by Russia for war purposes against Ukraine.

Fraport stated that the contract it signed did not allow the sale of the stake to be completed until 2025. It also said that the company did not wish to hand over the asset, which is worth 160m euros (or $1168.11 million).

We will be in a different situation if we find evidence that Pulkovo was used to wage war on Ukraine. “This may also be applicable in the case of new sanctions,” Michael Boddenberg (Fraport chairman, finance minister for the German state Hesse), said.

Boddenberg stated that he was assessing the current situation daily after an extraordinary supervision board meeting. He had also called in Russia’s Fraport assets.

Fraport Chief Executive Stefan Schulte also stated that no Russian military aircraft have been seen from Pulkovo.
