WILMINGTON, Del. (Reuters) – President Joe Biden’s administration has secured commitments from 20 internet providers including Verizon (NYSE:), Comcast (NASDAQ:) and AT&T (NYSE:) to cut prices or increase internet speeds for millions of U.S. families, administration officials said.

Biden, Kamala Harris Vice President will reveal the agreements at Monday’s ceremony in conjunction with representatives from companies providing internet services.

They are part the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), an aspect of the last year’s infrastructure law, which was passed with the support of both Republicans and Democrats. According to the White House, it allows eligible American families to reduce their internet bill by as high as $30 per year.

It stated that the ACP has made new commitments to ensure internet service is free for tens million households.

Low-income households can be eligible for this program. Eligible households can also receive federal assistance via other programs like food subsidies and Medicaid low income health insurance programs.

On a conference phone call, a senior official from the administration told reporters that companies made these commitments voluntary.
