EU industry chief Breton, Musk signal agreement on Digital Services Act -Breaking

BRUSSELS (Reuters) – EU industry chief Thierry Beer met Tesla (NASDAQ) Inc boss Elon Musk in Texas Monday, and they signed agreement on EU digital media regulations ahead of Musk’s purchase. Twitter Inc (NYSE:) .
This meeting is weeks after the richest man in the world agreed to purchase the social media giant for $44 billion.
Breton has posted a video featuring the EU officials and Musk explaining the Digital Services Act. In a tweet with the #DSA hashtag, Breton says to Musk that it fits well with his ideas.
Musk replied, “I think it aligns with my thinking.”
Both sides did not get into details about the new law. Companies can be fined if they fail to monitor illegal content. For example, advertising that is directed at children and based upon religion, gender or political opinion, will be prohibited.
Musk bought Twitter with the promise to revitalize and increase its user base.
Breton responded to the comments of the billionaire by saying that Twitter should comply with EU regulations known as “Digital Services Act” which combat illegal online content.
During the EU representative’s visit at Tesla Inc’s Austin facility, Breton was expected to meet Musk to discuss global supply chains issues.
