FRANKFURT/Reuters – Germany’s most important airport operator Fraport stated Tuesday that while inflation is expected to rise, it will pass costs on to its customers to make up the difference. This comes despite higher consumer prices for the next few years.

We have perfect inflation protection because we get a share of any revenue generated in shops. Inflation drives up revenues, so we have more proceeds,” Matthias Zieschang, finance chief said on a conference phone.

We have a strong emphasis on luxury products where there is currently even more inflation. Zieschang suggested that retail could also prove to be an inflation-winner.

Fraport’s latest contracts include inflation indexation on the rental property side. It just has to make adjustments to the old ones, as the latter will need to be renewed.
