TEGUCIGALPA – On Tuesday, a Drug Enforcement Administration plane (DEA) took off from Tegucigalpa in Honduras carrying Juan Carlos “El Tigre”, Bonilla (the country’s ex-policeman), who was being extradited to America on charges of drug trafficking.

Bonilla was the Central American’s Police Chief between 2012 and 2013, under President Porfirio Lopez. In March, Bonilla was driving to a toll booth.

He denied all allegations made by U.S. prosecutors and has been wanted extradited for over two years.

Bonilla stated in a letter last week that “I go in the presence of God, with my head high, and a clear conscience I owe no to the United States.”

Juan Orlando Hernandez, ex-President of Honduran, had pleaded guilty on Tuesday to charges related to drugs and weapons in a U.S. Federal Court after his extradition last week.

Hernandez has been accused of accepting millions of dollars in drug traffickers’ compensation for his immunity.
