DUBAI (Reuters) – Emirates will receive its first Airbus A350 aircraft in August 2024, the airline’s chief operating officer was cited as saying on Wednesday, which would be more than one year later than originally planned.

Emirates and Airbus didn’t immediately reply to my request for comment regarding the Emirati newspaper Emarat Al Youm report quoting Emirates COO Adel Al Redha

Tim Clark, Emirates’ President, stated earlier this year that the airline told Airbus they would not accept A350 passenger aircraft if they have surface problems similar to those reported by Qatar Airways.

Dubai’s airline purchased 50 A350 wide body jets from European manufacturer A350 in 2019, a deal it claimed was worth $16 Billion at list prices.

Al Redha, an earlier Wednesday spokesperson for Boeing (NYSE) Dreamliner aircraft ordered by Emirates were delayed at most a year until 2024.

A structural defect in the plane’s design caused the U.S. manufacturer to suspend deliveries.
