Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

NSE closed with 0.45% loss to reach a 1-month high, and the index lost 0.51%.

Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (NS:) was the best performer of the session, rising 2.69% or 4.15 to close at 158.60. AXIS Bank Ltd. (NS:), which gained 1.91%, or 12.60 points, to trade at 672.35 IndusInd Bank Late trade saw a rise in Ltd. (NS) of 1.38%, or 12.60 points, to 923.35

These were the worst performers of the session. Shree Cements Ltd., (NS:), fell 3.30% to trade at 23.499.00 by the close. Larsen & Toubro Ltd (NS.:) dropped 2.31% (37.15 points) to finish at 1,570.80. Bajaj Finserv Ltd. (NS.:) was down 2.0%, 300.30 points to 13,329.80.

AXIS Bank Ltd. was the top performer on BSE Sensex 30, rising 1.92% to 672.45, IndusInd Bank Ltd. rose 1.37%, to settle at 923.20. Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. gained 0.92% and closed at 2,220.75.

The worst performers were Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:) which was down 2.34% to 1,571.45 in late trade, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:) which lost 2.26% to settle at 13,318.70 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:) which was down 2.08% to 5,806.45 at the close.

On the India National Stock Exchange, falling stocks outnumbered those that advanced by 1494 to 347. The 24th ended unchanged.

The implied volatility index of Nifty50 options was at a 1-month peak with 2.24% increase to 22,80.

The June delivery of Gold Futures was up 0.7%, or 12.32, to $1853.32 per troy ounce. Other commodities traded included Crude oil, which rose by 3.53%, or 3.52, to reach $103.28/barrel, and the July Brent Oil contract, which rose 3.32%, or 3.40, to trade at $105.86/barrel.

USD/INR increased 0.01% to 77.227 while EUR/INR increased 0.34% at 81.154

US Dollar Index Futures were down 0.2% to 103.61.
