(Reuters] – Russian deputy economy minister Sergei Galkin was appointed Wednesday as new Rosstat statistics chief.

Pavel Malkov was the former Rosstat head and has been named acting governor in the Ryazan Region, as per a Presidential Decree signed on Tuesday by Vladimir Putin.
