Volkswagen, the German car company, (ETR (VWAGY,OTC)), plans to launch a fully-electric pick-up truck and a sports utility vehicle in America, Reuters reports, citing sources familiar with the matter. These vehicles will launch under the Scout brand.

Volkswagen will invest about 100 million euro in the new brand. Additionally, investors and an IPO may be options for external funding.

If Volkswagen sticks to its plan, they will face Rivian Automotive, Inc., NASDAQ:), a new company selling vehicles, but with supply chain troubles. Ford (NYSE:), recently launched F-150 Lightning, GM, NYSE:) has its Hummer EV, more in the pipeline, and Tesla (NASDAQ :), whose Cybertruck launch was delayed.
