(Reuters:) BP (NYSE 🙂 announced Thursday it had submitted two bids to establish offshore wind power leasings in the Netherlands. The announcement comes as the company focuses more on renewable energy.

BP submitted bids for two wind farm locations in Hollandse Kust West, 53 kilometres west of the Netherlands. The potential 1.4-gigawatt plant has a potential power output of 1.4 billion watts.

If it wins the bidding process, the company stated it will invest 2 billion euros ($2.1billion) in clean energy projects in Holland. This includes a promise to spend 75 millions euros in ecological monitoring of the North Sea.

BP aims for 50,000 tons a year in green hydrogen production from wind farms. It will supply Rotterdam with its aviation fuel demand.
