WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – The United States remains in a state of pandemic and must continue to deal with a constantly-evolving coronavirus despite having made progress over the last two years. This was Ashish Jha, White House COVID-19 Response Coordinator Ashish Jha stated on Thursday.

We have more than 80,000 cases of infection every day and hundreds are still dying each day. When Jha was asked whether the government should expand the emergency public health, Jha replied that there are still many challenges.

Jha said that health officials have been looking through contracts from the past to determine if they can “claw back” any funds in case Congress rejects President Joe Biden’s request for more COVID funding.
