U.S. defense chief urged immediate Ukraine ceasefire in call with Russian counterpart

WASHINGTON (Reuters] – U.S. Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin spoke with Sergei Shoigu, Russian defense minister on Friday. In the call, he demanded an immediate ceasefire for Ukraine and stressed that it was important to maintain communication lines.

According to a Pentagon spokesperson John Kirby, (NYSE:), this was Austin’s first conversation with Shoigu in over ten years.
