(Reuters] – Mitch McConnell (the top Republican in America’s Senate) visited Kyiv with the other Republican senators on Saturday and met Volodymyr Zilenskiy, President of Ukraine, to have talks.

McConnell wants Republican Senator Rand Paul, who is opposed to the $40 billion Ukrainian aid package that has broad support from both major political parties to change his mind.

He praised what he called a strong signal of bipartisan support in Ukraine.

Thank you so much for being a leader in fighting for democracy and for freedom. He said that he really appreciated it in a statement.

McConnell was joined by Susan Collins from Maine, John Barrasso (Wyoming) and John Cornyn (Texas).

Numerous celebrities and politicians from around the world have traveled to Ukraine in support of Ukraine’s invasion by Russia in February. Jill Biden (college professor) was the wife of President Joe Biden and made an unexpected trip to Kyiv on Sunday.
