- Musk revealed that the bot’s sample size was 100, in violation of their NDA.
- Musk indicated that he was still committed to Twitter’s purchase (NYSE:).
Elon Musk revealed in a Tweet on Saturday May 14 that Twitter’s legal team has been in contact and has informed him that he has violated a non-disclosure agreement (NDA). Evidently, the breach was related to how Twitter screens for bot accounts.
Musk Tweeted “Twitter legal just called to complain that I violated their NDA by revealing the bot sample size is 100! This actually happened.”
This occurred as Musk was in the middle of finalizing the acquisition of Twitter at $44billion and while deliberations were taking place about the public findings regarding bot usage or accounts. These accounts were one of Musk’s first promises after he announced his plan to buy Twitter.
Twitter has informed Musk, following an internal audit, that bot accounts represent less than 5 percent of its users.
After this, Musk Tweeted :”Twitter deal temporarily on hold pending details supporting calculation that spam/fake accounts do indeed represent less than 5% of users.”
Musk was surprised by this number. Musk responded to this tweet by confirming that he had confirmed the number via Twitter.
Musk then Tweeted on May 14 that “my team will do a random sample of 100 followers of Twitter.” He also invited others to do the same.
Musk then apparently breached the Twitter NDA when he Tweeted that “I picked 100 as the sample size number because that is what Twitter uses to calculate
Musk assured that he will continue to buy Twitter even after turning to Twitter once again.
