WASHINGTON (Reuters), – Canada’s foreign minister Melanie Joly indicated that Canada supports a rapid accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO.

Joly said Monday to reporters that Canada supports both their accession (to NATO) and that we support quick accession.

The Swedish government officially decided to apply for NATO membership. This was Monday’s announcement by Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson, one day after Finland announced it would also apply.
