The live captions feature for video on iPhones, iPads or Macs is a great addition. This means that people with hearing impairments or those who want to view a video without the volume turned down will be able to see the text below the video so they can follow along. Apple claimed that the feature can be used in streaming and FaceTime calls, as well as other video conferencing apps. Google already offers a similar function in its Android operating system.

This software will be available later in the year.

Apple’s new Door Detection technology can assist blind and low-vision iPhone/iPad users to find doors if the area is unfamiliar. This tool will also tell you if the door is closed or open and how it can be opened using pulling, pulling, or turning knobs. To operate, it uses machine learning and lidar technology. Lidar is also available for iPad Pro and iPad Pro models.

Apple will also add a way to allow people with disabilities mirror their Apple Watch’s assistive features and get an alert on their iPhone when their appliance, doorbell, or other noise is heard.
