LONDON, (Reuters) – Top Baby Formula Makers Reckitt Benckiser & Nestle are increasing supplies to America to address a shortfall that left shelves empty and has caused panic among parents.

The U.S. has seen a decline in baby formula aisles since the U.S. top manufacturer. Abbott Laboratories (NYSE: ) In February, after receiving complaints from bacterial infection, formulas were recalled.

Abbott announced Monday that it reached an agreement to restart production at the Michigan facility of baby formula with the U.S. regulator. This is a significant step in resolving the national shortage.

In the interim, baby formula companies have increased production and exported more products to the United States.

Reckitt Benckiser plans to increase baby formula production by around 30% and deliver more frequently to U.S. shops, a Reckitt Benckiser executive said Tuesday.

Reckitt’s senior vice-president, North America and Europe Nutrition at Reckitt said that the company makes its U.S. Formula in three plants in Michigan, Indiana, and Minnesota.

Before the Abbott recall Reckitt provided just over one-third of America’s infant formula market, compared to Abbott’s approximately 44%. Reckitt from Britain told Reuters they now account for over 50% of all baby formula supplies in the country.

According to the Food and Drug Administration, imports of baby formula from other countries will be allowed if they are not sold there often.

Nestle said Tuesday that it is flying infant formula to the United States using baby formula from Switzerland and the Netherlands.

It said that Gerber Baby Food Formula, the world’s biggest packaged food company is moving from Switzerland to the United States Gerber formula and Alfamino formula.
