Biden travels to Buffalo to grieve shooting victims, condemn racial violence

President Joe BidenI was visiting Buffalo, New York on Tuesday to console families of victims in a massacre this weekend in which a gunman of one race attacked Black communities. This is just the latest act of racism the Trump campaign has promised to curb in the months before the 2020 elections.

Biden will be spending much of the day in West New York, where officials claim that Payton Gendron (18) committed an act racially motivated violent extremeism. when he shot 13 people with a semi-automatic rifleAt the Tops Friendly Market Saturday. Ten were among those killed.

Karine Jean-Pierre White House Press Secretary said Tuesday morning, that Jill Biden and the President will pay their respects to those who died in Saturday’s shooting and have a meeting with law enforcement officials and emergency responders.

She stated that Bidens plans to attend a Tops Market Memorial to express his condolences to the deceased and to deliver remarks to a community centre in the late afternoon.

Jean-Pierre spoke aboard Air Force One and stated that President Obama plans to use the speech, which is scheduled for noon. ET to condemn racial prejudices and to urge Congress to adopt new measures to combat gun crime and domestic terror.

Biden stated that Trump’s bigotry at the Charlottesville rally in August 2020 convinced him to run for president. This was months before Trump won.

But Tuesday’s trip to Buffalo will again highlight the steep challenges facing Biden and other Democrats who say gun control measures are critical to reduce racial violence.

Congress has been asked by the president to mandate background checks for all firearm buyers. It should also ban high-capacity magazines.

On Sunday, Gendron was reported by police to have been under investigation for his social media accounts. He is also suspected of having written a 180-page manifesto explaining the “Great Replacement Theory,” which is a conspiracy theory in which racial minorities are trying to disempower and replace white Americans.
