LONDON, (Reuters) – Nestle SA will fly baby formula products to the United States via the Netherlands and Switzerland in order to relieve the current shortage at U.S. grocery stores, it said Tuesday.

Nestle said that it is moving Gerber baby foods formula from the Netherlands to the United States and Alfamino formula from Switzerland from Switzerland to America, in an emailed statement sent to Reuters.

The company stated that they prioritized the products “because they serve a crucial medical purpose, as they are for baby’s with cow milk protein allergy.” Both products had been imported, but we moved the shipments to make it possible for us to rush via air and meet immediate demand.

Since the top U.S. baby formula manufacturer, panicked parents have emptied U.S. supermarket shelves of baby formula. Abbott Laboratories (NYSE:) In February, dozens of Similac and Alimentum formulas were recalled by the company.

Reckitt Benckiser has increased its production of baby formula by around 30% and is making frequent deliveries to retailers to address a nationwide shortage, Reuters was told Tuesday by an executive.
