WASHINGTON (Reuters] – On Tuesday, the U.S. Department of Justice demanded that the House of Representatives panel investigating the attack last year on the U.S. Capitol turn over transcripts of interview conducted in the course of its investigation.

Democratic Representative Bennie Thompson stated to reporters that although the department requested the transcripts, the panel was unable to provide them.

It’s the committee’s work product. Thompson replied that the committee is responsible for the product when Thompson was asked to comment on the New York Times’ request.

We’re doing our best work. He said that if they wish to speak, much like other agencies, we would be pleased to have them. However, at this time, our work products are not available to them.

Thompson claimed that Thompson had indicated to Thompson that the committee would turn over transcripts once it has completed its investigation.

Donald Trump supporters stormed Capitol after he gave a passionate speech urging them not to accept the December 2020 defeat of Joe Biden by Congress.

This committee conducted many interviews with Trump associates about Capitol Riot and the events that led up to it.

It intends to hold public hearings next week.

Thompson stated earlier Tuesday that the panel hadn’t yet made a decision to summon Trump to testify.

Five House Republicans were subpoenaed by the Jan.6 committee, which included Representative Kevin McCarthy (the party leader) and demanded that they be interviewed.
