Walmart Earnings Miss, Revenue Beats In Q1 -Breaking

© Reuters. Walmart Revenue Beats Q1 EarningsWalmart (NYSE) reported Tuesday that the first quarter revenue exceeded expectations and that it missed analyst forecasts.
Walmart posted earnings per share (EPS) of $1.3 for revenue of $138.83B. Investing.com polled analyst to predict EPS at $1.47 on $138.83B revenue.
Walmart shares rose 2% over the first of the year. However, they are down 7.81% from their 52 week peak of $160.77 which was set on April 21. They are outperforming the S&P Global 100 which is down 13.64% from the start of the year.
Walmart’s earnings follow those of other Consumer Staples major sectors this month
Walmart’s report follows an earnings beat by Procter&Gamble on April 20, who reported EPS of $1.33 on revenue of $19.38B, compared to forecasts EPS of $1.29 on revenue of $18.71B.
Coca-Cola exceeded expectations in the first quarter with $0.64 EPS on revenues of $10.49B. This compares to $0.5794 forecasted on revenue $9.83B for EPS at $0.5794.
