NEW YORK, (Reuters) – Martin Shkreli has been released from prison after serving a seven year term of fraud.

Benjamin Brafman who represented Shkreli during his 2017 criminal trial, confirmed Wednesday that Shkreli was released from Allenwood prison’s Low Security Prison.

Brafman released Martin Shkreli from Allenwood Prison after completing all required programs. He was transferred to a BOP halfway place.

Shkreli will be eligible for release from federal custody in full on Sept. 14. A New York office assists prisoners in reentering society now supervises Shkreli’s confinement.

On Wednesday, there was speculation that Shkreli had been missing since photos were uploaded to Twitter (NYSE.) showing an older man looking like him and accompanied with a man wearing a “Free Shkreli tee-shirt.”

Shkreli was known for being a “pharma bro”, after raising the cost of anti-parisitic drug Daraprim from $17.50 to $750 per tablet in 2015. He also appeared unapologetic when criticised.

August 2017: He was convicted for fraud in 2 hedge funds he owned and scheming in order to defraud investors of Retrophin (NASDAQ) Inc.

Shkreli purchased a rare Wu-Tang Clan record “Once Upon a Time in Shaolin”, which he bought at an auction last July for $2 million. This was to pay $7.36M he had been ordered to forfeit as a result of his conviction.

Shkreli was banned from drug manufacturing for his entire life by a Manhattan judge in January. He also had to pay $64.6million for trying to prevent generic Daraprim competitors from entering the marketplace.

Shkreli was permanently barred from office or director positions by the Brooklyn judge, who oversaw his criminal trial.

Brafman stated that he had “encouraged M. Shkreli not to make any further statements.”
