Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

The index fell 0.12% at the NSE close.

Tata Consumer Products Ltd. (NS:) was the best performer of the session, rising 2.73% or 20.05 point to trade at 754.30 by the end. Meanwhile, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. UltraTech Cement Late trade saw Ltd (NS) rise 2.06%, or 126.00 point to 6,233.75

Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (NS:) was the worst performer of the session, falling 4.50% or 10,75 points to close at 229.90. Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. (NS) fell 3.08%, or 10.55 point to close at 331.90 Tech Mahindra Ltd (NS:), was lower by 2.18% or 26,.15 points at 1,172.05.

BSE Sensex 30’s top performers were Hindustan Unilever Ltd., which increased 2.02% to 2,290.65 and UltraTech Cement Ltd. (BO), which rose 1.98% to settle in at 6,230.00. Asian Paints Ltd. (BO) gained 1.65% to close out at 3,100.15.

Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(BO:), which fell 4.55% to 227.585 in late trading, Tech Mahindra Ltd. [BO:] which dropped 2.14% at 1,172.45, and State Bank Of India® (BO.) which declined 2.01% to 457.95 by the end.

On the India National Stock Exchange, rising stocks outnumbered those in decline by 1015 to 8.23, and 43 ended unchanged. The Bombay Stock Exchange saw 1847 rise and 1392 fall, and 112 ending unchanged.

Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd. shares (NS) dropped to 52-week highs. They fell 3.08% or 10,55 to 331.90.

The implied volatility index of Nifty 50 options was lower by 1.97%, to 22.30.

The June delivery of Gold Futures was 0.12% lower or 2.11 at $1,816.79 per troy ounce. Other commodities traded included Crude oil, which rose by 1.39 or 1.27% to reach $111.02/barrel, and the July Brent Oil contract, which rose by 0.96% to trade at $113.00/barrel.

USD/INR rose 0.32% to $77.50, and EUR/INR declined 0.01% at 81.68.

At 103.54, the US Dollar Index Futures rose 0.13%.
