WASHINGTON, (Reuters) –Republican First-Term Congressman Madison Cawthorn admitted that North Carolina Republicans voted Tuesday to terminate his term in the U.S House of Representatives. This was after a series of self-inflicted controversies led major party figures against Cawthorn.

“The establishment Republicans are in North Carolina embarrassed by Madison Cawthorn,” Chris Cooper said, who is a Western Carolina University political scientist and lives in the eleventh congressional district Cawthorn represents.

He did an outstanding job when Madison was elected as the first Congressman. He made some stupid mistakes recently, and I doubt he will make them again. Let’s give Madison another chance,” the ex-president stated in a blog post to the Truth Social Media platform.

Cawthorn’s lead in opinion polls fell over the last two months amid an attack from super PACs that have backing from Republicans, Democrats.

Results for NC Inc ran a 30-second commercial accusing Cawthorn, who has supported Tillis in the primary race of being reckless and out to cut spending on Social Security, Medicare, and other benefits.

Edwards is a local businessman of 61 years who has been promoting an “America First” agenda. He will be the most likely winner in the Republican-leaning district on Nov. 8.
