© Reuters. Spotify starts NFT tests for musician profilesSpotify (NYSE 🙂 has joined the NFT wagon. In an effort to enhance the fan and artist experiences, Spotify has apparently begun testing NFT galleries for musicians’ profiles.
Spotify appears to have begun NFT testing in America, according reports. The profiles of two artists, Steve Aoki (producer) and The Wombats (indie rock band), can be viewed to see NFT previews.
There is no way to buy an NFT from the platform at this time. Users will still be able to preview a collection and go directly to OpenSea where they can purchase it. Spotify doesn’t support video and GIF for now. The platform displays static images only, without sound.
A spokesperson for the company reportedly told journalists that the tests are geared towards improving artist and fan experiences, with the possibility of either “paving the way for a broader experience,” or “serve only as an important learning.”
Some Spotify users confirmed the reports by stating that they had been getting NFT-related surveys through the streaming service.
