BONN, Germany (Reuters – U.S. Treasury secretary Janet Yellen, who was being questioned by journalists about the strengthening dollar, stated that Wednesday’s U.S. Treasury rate would be determined market-determined.

Yellen stated that while tighter U.S. monetary policies and greater risk aversion are factors in favor of dollar strength, having a market-determined rate of exchange was the best system.

The dollar is considered a safe and secure global currency. Yellen stated that inflows are a natural phenomenon, which pushes up the dollar during highly uncertain economic times. So I believe it is understandable why the dollar has risen.
