WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – Madison Cawthorn of North Carolina was elected as the first-term U.S. Congressman. He is an ally of President Donald Trump and has been criticized for making controversial comments about a video. On Tuesday, CNN and WRAL reported that Madison Cawthorn conceded to Chuck Edwards, his primary challenger in the House of Representatives race.
Edwards (a North Carolina state senator) will be facing a Democratic opponent at the Nov. 8 general elections in North Carolina’s eleventh congressional district. Cawthorn is 26, the youngest member in Congress, and Trump has endorsed him despite several controversy.
